Who Are We?

We are a group of outdoor enthusiasts that have felt the spirit of John Otto in our everyday lives as we traverse the trails Otto built. And, have come to the realization that we must recognize Otto's Legacy. We see it in some of the folks around us today.

Thus we created The John Otto Award to recognize the same hard work and enthusiasm that Otto possessed.

The group is made up of private sector individuals, groups and public agencies.

As outdoor enthusiasts, like Otto, we have come to value the lands that surround us and desire to preserve and promote these lands.

 
What are we about?
We are not a political group. We are not a government agency. 
We are private individuals, like Otto. Some of us do work for the government, like Otto. Some of us are political, like Otto. But foremost, we are people who are enthusiastic about this area. The Colorado National Monument, the Bookcliff Mountains, and the Grand Mesa surround us, and we enjoy their presence in our lives.
We want to promote this area and value it's beauty, like Otto did.
